What I've been up to lately
Between reading tons of books, watching lots of movies and tv series on dvd (coughcharmedcough - help me),
I've been crashing at a friends pool:
Found a brand-spanking new Asian Supermarket and have fallen in love with Pocky and my own freshly made chicken lo-mein.
I am also working up the nerve to buy these
(not with the fuzzy photo-ness. I is a camera picture)
Been enjoying quite a many days in a row of cart food.
and using the banana that comes 'free with every purchase' to make bannana bread. You have to keep the universe in balance. There is no need to deprive yourself of carbs just because watermelon and pineapple in the middle of god-awful hot summers is delicioso. Think of the children.

I took a trip for the holiday weekend,
and passed this place by train.
Although this train station is so much prettier than that famous one.
I had a relaxing time in state far north of here - it was at least 10 degrees cooler with limited humidity!
(I am officially old as 1. it is exciting, and 2. I am talking about it)
But it's nice to be home.

lots to say
but keep putting off saying any of it. The story of my life...
I did get a new memory card for the little digitial camera, so I plan on actually capturing all of those little mundane everyday things I want to take a picture of, but never actually do. But I can't promise to post. You know what they say about assuming!
I'll leave you with this. I didn't take it, but can't find who did. It's on my work computer and I'm not sure where I pilfered it from. Just a bit of my city to tide you over.

Primary Colors (which makes me think of the phrase 'wave your freak flag'. I'm not sure...)
I was very upset this morning after voting. The delegate thing has got me all confused and befuddled. I thought I understood, but as I stood there in the booth with my legs sticking out and a line of people behind me, realized I was dead wrong and immediately frustrated. And the 'helpful' sheet explaining which delegates to pick should I pick a certain candidate was completely wrong and when leaving, was explained as 'sorry' we're not sure who gave those to us. Yeah. That's what I want to hear upon exiting. That although the 10 foot rule is applied to campaigning at the poll site, (that was hotly discussed inside while in line by others - oh the drama at 7am), that if a volunteer inside is handing things out, they aren't checked out first? I used common sense and obviously didn't use it while in booth, but really.
First thing I did upon getting to work was to google as much information about how delegates are picked, assigned, etc. etc. and got nothing. Well, nothing except realizing that local public officials are our state's electoral college. wtf. How did I not know this?! Really?! I feel very uneducated, and stupid right now. I see a big library weekend ahead of me.
In other news, I'm craving sweet peas in a salad. Just some helpful information.

the Janeane Garofalo ones - remember?...
My eyelid is swollen and I don't know why. I woke up yesterday and knew it was swollen. I find that among the most disturbing parts. Went sans makeup yesterday to quell, and it did subside a bit throughout the day, but oh my, 'tis Monday, and I cannot hide at home any longer. I'm currently at work sans eye makeup, and hiding behind fake glasses. The black frame rectangular type. Cute, but I cannot fool co-workers when I have not worn these in the 3.5 years working with them. Clients yes, co-workers no.
Perhaps I should go to the doctor, but it does not hurt, and why waste a perfectly good co-pay. Hmmm... that may be cheaper than a new pair of fake glasses though. These have to be upgraded if I'm wearing them any longer. Choices...

Sadly I don't own a Ramekin
Hilarious link for the day. The good stuff is the comment section - read on down to Meatloaf's 'anything for love' parody.
